If the good I did outweighs the bad I did, I will go to heaven but if the bad outweighs the good, I will go to hell.
“Wouldn’t that be too risky since eternity is forever?” I asked. “Would you like to spend eternity in hell, forever and forever?”
“I suppose I cannot help myself there,” the fellow said in full resignation,
“for that is just the way it is .”
But here is another way. It is called the way of mercy.
In this way, we come face to face with the mercy of God through Christ Jesus. What God did in Christ Jesus was to judge each person sins, condemn them, and put the penalty of death on His Son Jesus Christ
The way to understand it is like a man in jail for owing money. A benevolent man is set free because someone paid on his behalf.
When we come to God through Christ, the penalty for our sins is paid for by the death of Christ. His resurrection is the proof that God accepted the price He paid.
The way of mercy is as simple as this prayer:
“Lord Jesus, please come into my heart now and be my lord and my saviour. I believe that you died for my sins. I believe you rose from the dead for my salvation. I confess you now as my Lord and Saviour. Thank you, O God for this way of mercy, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.”
